Description: The "Live Well, Take Action" Student Celebration was a huge success. Student participants showcased their community group projects, volunteered at the event and supported one another through different teams. A few of them also took on leadership roles and it was the first time some of the students had run an event. The topics of the projects included health amongst East Asians and Asian representation in the media. The "Live Well, Take Action: Ambassador Program for East Asian Youth" is a collaboration between the Chinese Canadian National Council Toronto Chapter and ALPHA Education. The program offered 6 weekly sessions at local schools from February to April, 2017. More than 35 students from 3 York Region District School Board ( YRDSB ) schools completed the sessions and they were divided into 11 groups to create social media campaigns, art projects and videos to raise awareness of issues they chose that impacted East Asian communities. Student Celebration was the final event of the program for all students to share their finished projects with their peers, families, teachers and community members. The event was held at Thornlea Secondary School. For more information visit www.ccnctoronto.ca/projects/livewelltakeaction/.
