Description: A Remembrance Day service was held on November 10 by the Markham District Veterans Association (MDVA) to observe the Centennial of the end of the Great War 1918 and the 73rd Anniversary of the end of World War II. A morning service was conducted by Padre Capt the Reverend Greg Bailey at the MDVA hall at 7 Washington Street. Following the service, our veterans marched, accompanied by political leaders, dignitaries, Army and Air Cadets, York Regional Police, Markham Fire and Emergency Services, Flag Parties and citizens to the Markham Cenotaph at Hwy #7 and Markham Road where a memorial service was held and the laying of wreaths at the monument. On the return parade to the MDVA hall Jack Paley, a 97-year-old veteran, received the salute. Refreshments were served at the MDVA hall after the ceremony.
