Description: Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) celebrated the grand opening of nine new paediatric Smilezones generously donated by the Smilezone Foundation. These bright, fun Smilezones include colourful murals, engaging electronic imagery, sensory toys and tablet stations meant to help improve the experience for children and families when they visit the hospital. At the Smilezones opening, a description of feelings experienced by a child when needing medical attention in a hospital setting was given by Emma Betz, a paediatric patient who has needed hospital attention over 40 times during the past 10 years. " We are truly grateful to Smilezone Foundation and to their donor, Michael Mutcheson Memorial Trust, for these beautiful makeovers to such essential areas,â said Barb Steed, Executive Vice President of Patient Services & Chief Practice Officer, MSH. In recognition of this contribution, MSH is proud to dedicate these Smilezones in the name of Michael Mutcheson Memorial Trust with a dedication plaque that will be displayed in the day surgery paediatric waiting room.
